Facilities

The tennis facilities at Cottonwood Palo Verde are comprised of seven (7) tennis courts at two locations: two (2) premier surface courts at Palo Verde and five (5) hard surface courts at the Cottonwood site.  Phase II residents also have access to the two clay courts at Ironwood through a reciprocal agreement with Phase III, whose residents may use the Palo Verde courts.

Scheduling Priority

The Recreation Director is responsible for authorizing all scheduled play and will maintain a tennis master calendar on which all tennis events are to be listed. Programs appearing on the tennis master calendar have first priority for the use of Cottonwood courts. Coordinated play as outlined below has second priority and open play has third priority.

Organized Play for Court Utilization

Organized play gains maximum utilization of court time. It is a function of the Cottonwood Tennis Club and is defined as follows:

October 1 - April 30

The Cottonwood Tennis Club (CTC) has priority use of all five Cottonwood courts on Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

May 1 - September 30

The CTC has priority use of all five Cottonwood courts on Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. - 12 noon.

Playing Time and Procedures for Drop-in Play

Playing time is limited to one hour for singles and 1 1/2 hours for doubles. During open play time at both the Cottonwood and the Palo Verde courts, players must sign up on the green chalk board. The first team to sign up on the waiting list is entitled to the next available court. At least one player must stay in the sign-up area, and all players must be present at the time of court availability; otherwise, the next full team present is entitled to the vacant court.

Guests

Guests of members of Cottonwood Palo Verde, who have guest cards, are eligible to use the courts. Guests under 19 years of age must have a member present. Guests of members who do not have a guest card must be accompanied by a member.

Cottonwood Palo Verde members may invite guests based on one guest for singles and two guests per two members for doubles.

Cottonwood Palo Verde residents and guests may use the Palo Verde tennis courts free of charge through a reciprocal agreement with Cottonwood Palo Verde, which also allows Cottonwood Palo Verdemembers to use the Ironwood tennis courts.
